Abril Fatface turns the fat-face Didones of nineteenth-century advertising posters into a heavyweight display cut, with slab-thick verticals collapsing into hairline serifs on a strict vertical stress. Its extreme thick-to-thin contrast is the same tension that carried Bodoni and Didot onto fashion mastheads, scaled up here for maximum impact at large sizes.
The font works well for magazine covers, poster headlines, logo work, editorial titles, book jackets, packaging, fashion editorials, album covers, and social media graphics.
