About the product
Bunka is a bold display font built on a geometric sans skeleton pushed to an extreme weight — strokes are near-uniform and heavy, counters are tight circular cutouts, and the x-height is high enough that the lowercase reads as confident and space-efficient rather than compact. The construction sits closer to a rounded black grotesk than a conventional display sans: no contrast, no softness at the joins, just solid geometry that occupies the page.
The ligature set is where Bunka earns its character. Over 50 pairs merge into shared forms that shift the texture of a word in a way that default spacing can't. Use it for editorial headlines, food and beverage packaging, tech product branding, poster titles, app interfaces, and social campaign graphics.
