Valentine is a high-contrast elegant serif built on hairline thins against heavy vertical stems, with sheared terminals and a dotted lowercase i that drops into all-caps settings as a deliberate break in the line. The italic is a drawn one, not a slant: the a and f take different shapes entirely.

Forty discretionary ligatures cover the awkward capital pairs — CH, TH, KS, ZO — so a set title closes its gaps instead of spacing around them.
