Mend Typeface

About the product

Mend is a heavy slab serif font with the proportions of athletic block lettering: wide caps, rectangular slabs the same weight as the stems, and corners cut flat where a diagonal lands. The apertures are small, and the fitting is tight, so a set word reads as one solid bar of type. Three styles run the same skeleton from sharp to rounded.

Slab keeps every corner crisp, which is the jersey-and-show-print end of the family. Soft takes the edge off the slabs, and Very Soft rounds them far enough to read as a toy logo or a drinks brand. The Slab style also holds a second set of alternate capitals for logotype work.

Practical uses:

  • Sports and team branding — jersey names, team crests, tournament posters, club merch.
  • Branding and logos — breweries, barber shops, garages, burger joints, record labels.
  • Poster and flyer design — gig posters, wrestling bills, rodeo nights, film titles, sale banners.
  • Merchandise — varsity tees, hoodies, caps, patches, enamel pins.
  • Editorial layouts — feature headlines, cover lines, chapter openers, pull quotes.

Features:

  • 3 styles: Slab, Soft, Very Soft;
  • corner radius is what separates the three styles;
  • single-case alphabet — uppercase and lowercase keys produce the same letterforms;
  • numerals, punctuation & symbols;
  • a full set of alternate capitals in the Slab style;
  • 150 glyphs in Slab, 104 in Soft and Very Soft;
  • OTF format.
